Wellington Overnight 7-8th Dec 2019

Post by 1coolbanana » Wed Dec 11, 2019 9:50 am

Last minute plans to head out to Wellington for the weekend.
Due to all the fires it seemed like the safe option and route with massive fires to the north and south.
Heading up the still open Bells line, the smoke was stifling but cleared by Mt Irvine.

Chad and I met up at My Vic and to our surprise, Dave dropped by for a breakfast chat.
Not many pics of Chad unfortunately, hes always too far in front

The plan was to head due west through Oberon, Canowindra and then north through Cumnock, Manildra etc.
Return would be via Twelve Mile, Crudine, Bathurst.

Weather was fine and clear heading out through Sewels Creek

And heading to Lyndhurst

So dry in the central west

Poor Chad copped a bee sting so some minor surgery was involved in Lyndhurst

Onto Canowindra for lunch

Chads mighty Strom, just cracked 100,000 km :yo:

This photo is of the, believe it or not, the creepiest child care centre Ive ever seen, in Wellingtons main street near the pub!!
Even the front door looks scared

Usual good feed at the Cow & Calf Saturday night and woke Sunday morning with the thick smell of smoke :(
Obviously the winds have changed and the whole day was to be thick with acrid smoke.
Headed to Twelve Mile and things are so bleek and gloomy, the drought, the fires, just terrible

The only hint of water anywhere :(

Equipment laying idle

Getting hot, humid, and the smoke was bad

Image

Crudine was in the worst condition Ive ever seen, super rough ans strewn with rocks as big as cricket ball.
Bammm, first victim, Chads rear wheel :?

Image

Struggled to hold air so a detour to Bathurst for some more repairs and then all was good.

Image

Got our shit together and resumed on our course for the trip home.
1000 km's of good riding :yo:
Great couple days, thanks for coming Chad :thumb:

Nice trip. Wish I could have joined in. Thanks for posting the map as well.. :)

She's a dry old place, this beautiful country.
