Shit box challenge

Post by Laurie » Sun Jan 27, 2019 7:32 am

I went to a shit box challenge recently .
The rules were all cars must cost no more than $500 with purchase and all modifications ( except wheels and tyres )
Any person there could buy any car for $500 at the end to keep people honest .
Oddly enough all cars ended up being twin CIG locked .
All competing team members invented one challenge for everyone to do .
It was held at Janowen hills 4x4 park .

This is " Gary " in one of the blindfold driving events ( this one had a seeing eye navigator )
A lifted Vitara cost $300 to buy

Here is the ladies team in " ring ding ding " taking a nap in the cup of tea holding event ( big screams and laughs from inside this car )
Smokin two stroke LJ $50

Image

And " shitna " in the same event ( big paint budget on this one )
Flash looking Sierra $400

Image

Finally we have " barnacle bill " again in the cup of tea challenge ( lost the most tea )
A well used Sierra $200

Image

Very little carnage and a lot of fun was had , all cars still drove at the end ( one in 2wd )

Must be a Suzuki Club thing, the Sydney has this on a regular basis, or it did when I was active in the Land Rover Club Sydney, they invited us a few times, looks like a lot of fun.

Not sure about damaging an LJ 2 stroke though, becoming a classic nowadays.
Cheers Baz.

Not really a club thing but the people there have driven / raced zooks for many years .
The owner of the blue one is restoring it for his wife , he has two hard tops his father has a ute and a soft top , racing buddy has two soft tops plus other zooks
Only two bikes between the lot of them though

I was building one for all road touring when i decided a bike would be better

Toured this one a few years ago ( went to Katherine for a respray ) 7700 klm that trip

Yes 1.6 Vitara engine easily and fairly common into a Sierra , Big block 1.0 into the LJ .
LJ came with 550 2 stroke , 800 cc and 1 litre four stroke . Sierra came with 1 litre and 1.3 .
( LJ gearbox is very easy one hand pick up and light axles so engines are limited in power )
But swapping in Sierra gear has been done many times
Sierra's have had many many modifications over the years
and the boys get bored with how capable they are so they " drive em like a chimp "

All these cars are driving and drove on

1 litre LJ

1.6 Sierra ( race car )

2.5 v6 grand Vitara engine home made buggy ( race car )

Are the Jimny's based on the same rolling chasis. I don't mind them either.

You can even get them with a kit to make them look like a Defender 90
