Work on the 690rr

Postby john950 » Mon Oct 15, 2012 7:10 pm

The 690 has just recently clocked 47000kms on it,and i have decided too do a

on the in/exh rockers, got the bike may 11 with 14000kms on it and checked the valve lash at 20k,all good but exh rocker arm roller showed a bit of problems for the future,so parts ordered/recieved from boltons within a week.Going to do the in/ex rocker arm replacement, and fit the high front mudgaurd for the summer blacksoil season........being

caught out a few times with the blacksoil.Since i bought the bike it hasnt missed a beat,no debri on oil changes, runs super cool both on coolant and oil temp side of things, the bike is made super strong and will last forever in the enviroment it is used now,i will post some photos of the rocker replacement

Got the parts from boltons power and eqpt in victoria, have used them for years and found them to be great to deal with.

I replaced the rocker arms with the new ones, the rocker arm shafts were perfect condition, the exh rocker roller still seemed ok(couldnt feel any movement) but has marks/blemishes on surface
Image
New arms fitted, everything looks good up top (rhs inlet spring optical illusion)
Image
Got a big filter/airbox on the rr,notice lots of induction noise when riding them

On start up going to check oil pressure, last time i checked it it was around 50psi with cold 10/60w at above idle (choke on)

Whats with replacing the whole rocker arm on the newer LC4s?

Problem is common to the older ones but you only need to replace the bearing on them.
