2014 690 enduro R located with owner in Berrima NSW .. Hello

Postby Faster » Sat Feb 21, 2015 9:30 pm

Just a quick Hello from a new member.

After taking a break from riding for a few years to raise kids, I am back. Recently bought a 2014 690 ER and will be building it into an all in 1 bike to commute to work (city) a couple of times a week and run fire trails and do some adventure touring. I have 2500 k's on it now and just had my first issue..... Seams pretty major. I will post the issue in the forum , hopefully it is an easy fix. :?

Thanks, I have read the entire thread and will be referring to it on my build up. I hope to ride with some of the forum members in the future. So let me know if anyone is up for a meet.

Thanks for the Hello's.

Yeah I was not sure if I would ride to work on the 690 when I bought it, but after I found out how easily it got through Sydney traffic it became addictive.. I keep passing guys on wider bikes unable to pass between tight traffic lanes and it is surprisingly comfortable on the freeway. I noted that is virtually unaffected by side winds and truck turbulence, you can feel it but the bike does not move around.

I also recently bought a Shuberth C3 helmet and it crazy quiet on the 690 because of the clean air around the helmet, no earplugs needed. On other bikes with fairings the turbulent air causes a much louder helmet. I recently rode a new Versys and an older k100 and R1150 full fairing bikes all with significantly increased noise when it rained I still got wet...So for the moment I will stick with the 690 for the commute when I don't take the car.
