Resizing the secondary barrel jets from 0.075" to 0.085" to try and get rid of the WOT pinging.

I've often wondered how accurate drilling your own jets would be, mainly drilling square.

Small high speed lathe :thumb:
Use negative rake on the drills and it reams them out.

I was reading about this on KTOG Triple forum recently, in all the carbie rebuild kits the jets aren't exact, like the Mikuni and Keihin jets, so the guys on the forum re-drill them to suit, they had a list of the drills to use to get the correct sizing somewhere in there.

I have a heap of various sizes both idle and main and if I want the needle and seat I just find the size and buy Mikuni, besides I just don't have the room for all the good stuff like a lathe and so on, barely enough room for a vice and grinder.
Cheers Baz.

You know Marc I was going to say you would probably use your lathe then I thought nah it must be simpler than that because lots of people without lathes do it LOL

Theres many ways to skin a cat as they say.
If you have the tools, may as well use them :D
Do it once and hopefully do it right!
Although, I do screw things up often and have to redo it, I just dont post that up

I had to drill some Mikuni mains for my RGV when I was experimenting with methanol.

I put a piece of aluminum in my drill press, drilled and tapped an m5 hole and then without moving it, screwed the jets in and drilled them out.

No where near as accurate as a lathe but it got me by.

I was jetting off my EGT gauge and the 2 cylinders run different main jet sizes so accuracy didnt matter that much within reason.

Did it work ok?. I hear some seat bases are pretty hard. I like those seat concept seats. I had a Pro Cycle seat on my old DR and wasn't real impressed with it.
Sure did, and the cover has been intact for 2 years without letting go :)

Good stuff. I'll have to have a crack at doing the seat on the BM.
