Re: What did you do today
Went to the hardware store and bought some galvanized staples and some spray contact then to the local upholsterers and bought some foam so I can recover the GS seat.
I got some 12mm soft foam, its what the guy said he uses to top up bike seats that have compressed a bit.
I bought some covers from evil bay, looked at some videos and it looks easy enough. But they know what they are doing so ill give it a go. How hard can it be??

It's pretty easy to recover a seat I've done 3 or 4 without any issues, having an air stapler helps a lot, what's the contact for, gluing the new foam to the old??
Just for future reference Seat Concepts have new foam and cover kits for $290.

Re: What did you do today
Yep contact is to stick the new to the old.
Im going to cut some from the bottom of the original foam and put the new stuff on top.
Ive got a reasonable hand stapler.
Well thats what im going to try and do.

Hand stapler is fine also, I have a cheapie Supercrap one, $40 I think at the time, we do a lot of putting carpet on stuff we make for our 4WD and Camper so needed an easier way to do it.
Which reminds me I need a new seat cover for the XT225 we have.
Another tip when shaping the foam, electric carving knife
Any way my new rear rack turned up yesterday, not what I expected, wider than it is longer, I was expecting it to be like that but not this much, so I did a bit measuring and I'll just have to work something out to fit it the way I want it.
Bloody 400 wide and 280 deep

Re: What did you do today
I have a Pneumatic stapler from Supercheap, used to it cover my 690R seat pan with a Seat Concepts cover a couple of years ago.
Had to buy the correct stainless staples in correct size from the local toolpro shop though as they did not come with the stapler.

Did it work ok?. I hear some seat bases are pretty hard. I like those seat concept seats. I had a Pro Cycle seat on my old DR and wasn't real impressed with it.

Re: What did you do today
Got a new rear tyre fitted today after work.
Shinko 805 to match the front 804. Hope it is as good as the 804 once its scrubbed in but the ride home was pretty exciting.
But for $175 fitted im willing to see how it goes.
Ill have a go at the seat tomorrow after work.
Getting ready for a 4 day w/end away camping with the Missus.
Heading down around Mt Gambier.
