Bike choice.

Post by lukeage » Thu Jun 21, 2018 10:38 pm

GDay all,
I am interested in users opinions based on potential bikes for me.

I am 5 foot 8. 70 kgs.
Quite and experienced rider

Have owned a KTM 1190 adventure R for a few years and have found the bike awesome however, I struggle to touch the ground, and when fully loaded find it a tad heavy through the sand.

Mainly do tarmac but would like to hit the dirt every now and then.

Love the power of the 1190.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

I went from 1190R back to 990.
Although the height isnt much lower its considerably narrower which makes it much easier to manage and "feels" much lighter.
Really depends on whether you want to stick with a multi or maybe go back to singles.
I couldnt go to a single.

I the recent past I went from GS, GSA, 950, 990, 1190 and back to 990 as my perfect fit.

The 1190R is an awesome bike and it has a "presence" of a big bike.
The 990 is like a DR by comparison but in reality, its still big, high hp, more capable and a lot of bike with more smiles per mile.
Back to basics by comparison but to me, more enjoyable to ride.

Im pleased with my decision although I do miss the 1190's awesomeness.

You're lucky to be able to try out so many bikes in a short amount of time, 1coolbanana. And yeah, 1190 is definitely the most awesome bike out of that bunch.
