Re: Aurora Rally 990 Build

Just waiting on a couple fittings but pretty much right to go. Ive been wanting to get a custom form fitting tank made for ages but no one with the skills has the time to make what I want. This will do very nicely in the interim. https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-3k9mQCm/0/f1bb04a8/XL/i-3k9mQCm-XL...

Re: Aurora Rally 990 Build

Just a little update... Ive been looking for a rear tank and getting exactly what I wanted has been fruitless. All the guys with the skills to make exactly what I want are too busy and Im sick of carrying a jerry can with me everywhere. This CJD rear 7 litre tank came up. Brand new never used, got i...

Re: Project Everest

Ive been anguishing a little about a lift kit. It drives so well stock, is very capable as is and I was concerned about ruining all this with a lift maybe becoming harsh and extra body roll. After much thought I went and did it anyway... Dobinson Monotube (without remote reservoir). Very nice bit of...

Re: Project Everest

All the "experts" recommend a catch can to remove excess oil fumes being regurgitated into the inlet manifold which mixes with EGR gases and soot and clogs everything up over time. This was only available with the extra large bracket to also suit the secondary filter. It just makes it a pa...

Re: Project Everest

The thing that got me about the everest is what an awesome drive it is! Smooth, quiet, comfy, every mod con you could want, very impressed and quite luxurious. Being my first diesel, its going to take some getting used to but so far Im very impressed. I was thinking about another Prado after so many...

Project Everest

Sold the Prado that I had for many years and regretted it not long after. So was time to ditch the Jeep and buy another proper 4WD... Enter 2018 Ford Everest Titanium Got a cracking deal on a demo with 4500 km's and so another project begins. Dont plan on doing any hardcore 4WD'ing, just touring, su...

Re: Aurora Rally 990 Build

An oppotunistic score of of some light weight Warp 9 rotors to go with the rear Braking solid rotor! Didnt need them but they were cheap and the less unsprung weight the better https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-72rttZn/0/cd9628d8/L/i-72rttZn-L.jpg https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-g779Lw6/0/e1b0...

Re: Aurora Rally 990 Build

It was a little harsh on the slower rocky and corrugated stuff. This should add some plushness without affecting the mids and high speed damping much. But we will see what the result is like. All trial and error. No changes except for the base valve https://photos.smugmug.com/Bikes/990-Rally/Suspens...

Re: Aurora Rally 990 Build

So here I go again. Plan is to soften up the base valve. Not really touching the high speed, just the low speed stack https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-dBsWdM4/0/48e5d3cd/X2/i-dBsWdM4-X2.jpg And pull the base valves out the bottom. Disassembly of the forks not needed for this. https://photos.smugm...

Re: Aurora Rally 990 Build

Was a nice day for a little ride. Tested out a few more mods and see how my hand and arm are going to cope https://photos.smugmug.com/Rides/2018/2018-04-21-Local-Ride/2018-04-21/i-t5thx7G/0/566a797a/XL/P4210218_2304x1296-XL.jpg Few things I want to change. The voltmeter is useless in sunlight and th...
